   A New Hobby

A sports team creates a healthy diversion from alcohol on watching TV every night. Once part of everyday life, a sports team will often need input on all levels, from promotional literature to organizing events. A sports team can also encourage reading and research to find out more about the history of the sport and the team.
   Time Away from family

Sports teams often have tournaments that can sometimes result in time away from home. Committing to a team can often mean that members will rely on you to take time away with them to play. This can be difficult for young families and team members with dependants.

   Making New Friends

Not only will sport boost confidence, it will boost your social circle. It is easy to find new friends in a sports team, as there is an instant common ground to talk about. Sports teams generally hold regular social events, meaning that you will have more chances to go out and party!
   Costly Equipment

For many sports, your own kit is essential. From training clothes to suitable footwear, the price tag for a safe kit that reduces injury risk can be high. Clothing will have to be replaced quickly due to wear and tear, and many reputable sports brands have expensive price tags.

   Gaining Confidence

Everyone has doubts when joining a new sports team. Once the initial introductions are made and play is underway, your skill will improve and boost your confidence. This in turn will inspire a return visit and confidence in the sport will increase with each time you go.
   Risk of Injury

Depending upon the level of sport, the risk of injury is always present. The intensity of the sport will determine the impact of an injury on everyday life. More active sports, injury can result in time off work, hospital bills and surgery in more extreme circumstances.
