All of you don't know what you're talking about...
It has nothing to do with the issue of cloning. The issue surrounding stem cell research is that for embryonic stem cell research, human embryos are destroyed when the cells are extracted from them. Embryonic stem cells are the most efficient type of stem cells because they can become 220 different types of cells that the human body is made up of, as opposed to adult stem cells which can only become a few. However, it all depends on your point of view on wether or not an embryo is a human being. Most of the embryos used are ones in labs that are literally going to be thrown away anyways. So why not put these embryos that will be tossed away to good use? The results shown so far with stem cell research look very promising and possibly in the near future scientists will be able to find a cure for diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimers. Ask yourself this: If someone you loved could be cured by stem cell procedures would you rather have them treated or save a embryo that will be tossed out anyways?

using stem cells definatly out weighs the moral issues because the law says that religion and beliefs cannot be mixed with goverment and this issue is goverment buisnnes and not for you crazy christians to deal with.
listen to the constition and let the aborted embroys become another full grown persons relief and savior! see ya.

Adult stem cells
Embyronic stems cells have cured nothing. Adult stem cells are a proven method for saving lives yet do not get the same exposure or funding.

It's NOT Cloning
embryonic stem cell research is not cloning it is using the cells of an embryo before they have decided what cells they actually want to be (ie muscle cells, brain cells etc) and using them to try and get them to form a specific cell to repair/replace the damaged cell. This would be very beneficial. As for its "killing babies" what are the parents doing to the eggs they choose not to use and just keep frozen....(they cannont be used to create a baby after 2 years and cannot be used or medical research after 7 yrs) they are freezing them to death until they are useless to anyone or thing. I dont think its a baby until it hits fetus stage not when is and embyo

Stem cell research does not require killing embryos.

Fear
Clones taking over the lives of the "Original" That thought in itself is scary. That there is someone out there that can replace you. I don't think anyone would want to live with that fear.

Why not be pro?
What if it was your mom, or your son, or your daughter or anyone close to you. Wouldn't you want the absolute best possible treatment to keep the person alive? If stem cell research keeps a young kid from losing a body part or dying from a disease, then why the heck wouldn't you support stem cell research? Don't let your "morals" get in the way of preserving a life.

Against Religion
Many religions do not support this type of cloning. Making humankind would be a type of manufacture.

Risky and Costly
Many other countries are starting to become nervous about Americans working on stem cell research. Although we have only cloned plants and animals, stem cell research has begun on humans as well. Also, it takes lots of money and hundreds of tries just to create one successful clone, and even then, the clone might be unhealthy.

Moral Issues
If one has ever seen the movie "The Island", they will know the moral issues of cloning. Does the cloned person have the right to be called a human since it was/is not made genetically right, and was a recreation of a cloned set of genetic genes.
