   think about it....

my school has school uniforms and it is actually not that bad....you dont get made fun of beacuse of a shirt or skirt you wore that looks different....and it also doesnt display your wealthiness, which might be the ultimate decision for someone if they might hang out with you , plus some schools let you wear accesories like ties and we have "free fridays" if no one breaks the dress code rules...plus ours are stylish and not plad or navy blue!!! GO COUGARS
   .

I don't get made fun of what I wear at school... Some of the most popular kids at my school wear some of the cheapest clothes. Popularity all has to do with how your additude is, not how you look.

school uniforms take away our right. if a school wants them for safety reasons..NO. if a kid wants to shoot up a school they WILL find a way. :)

   Differences

uniforms only make us equal in looks but never in attitude, behavior, and our personalitys! wen we put clothes of our style it tells us wether your a jock, gothic, jewish, hip, classic, rock, and ect! so you see we wear wat we are and our differences! we should have the right to wear what we want instead of wearing something in any importance to our education! so i say" NO SCHOOL UNIFORMS! NEVER! EVER!"

   We actually learn

Resolved: The wearing of school uniforms should be enforced in all schools. We the affirmative agree. The wearing of school uniforms clearly enhances the education of the students and the environment in which they learn. Without school uniforms problems will arise throughout the schools. We the affirmative will support and prove this in our debate today. There are 10 reasons why the wearing of school uniforms should be enforced in all schools: • Reduces distractions among the school community. - Clothing will no longer vary, so kids will not be focused on the “new item” and will instead focus on their schoolwork. • Prevents “gang colors” and other signs of exclusive groups in schools. -Kids will no longer associate with one another because of clothing and the strength of potentially violent gangs will decrease. • Instills discipline among students. -When the kids are wearing their uniforms they will realize that they are in a school environment and act differently than they do outside of school. • Decreases violence and theft because of clothing and shoes. -Nobody vies to obtain the clothing items of other children because everyone’s clothes are identical. -Because nobody’s clothes are being stolen, nobody will blame one another for missing items and create uncomfortable or even violent confrontations. • Kids will get to schools on time -There is no need to pick out an outfit to wear because the uniform will be the same every day. • “Clothes police” are not needed. -The school wouldn’t supply the students with inappropriate or revealing clothing and therefore a student would be in violation of the dress code if his or her uniform didn’t meet school standards. • Students won’t feel uncomfortable or be teased. - Fashion sense is not a relevant topic if everyone is wearing the same clothing. • Schools will be able to recognize people who do not belong at the school. - If there is one person in the school who is not wearing the same uniform as everyone else, or not wearing a uniform at all, then the schools faculty would be able to determine that that person is not meant to be at that school. • Instill a sense of community. - Everyone is equal and everyone has something in common. • Competition over who has the best clothing will be completely eliminated. • The uniforms are easy to obtain and replace and are sold at the same price for everyone. • All students will have enough clothing -If the uniforms are too expensive for a particular family, they will receive financial aid to buy uniforms. • School will seem more prestigious. - The school will seem more organized. - More people will want to send their children to that school→ more money. • Schools spirit will increase. - The schools will be proudly displayed through the clothing. • Increases school attendance. - People won’t be embarrassed by the way that they look, and this will encourage them to go to school. Statistics • 3% of schools in 1997 had required schools uniforms → 34% of schools in 2000 had initiated it. Principals reported positive effects on: • The school's image in the community (84%) • Classroom discipline (79%) • Peer pressure (76%) • School spirit (72%) • Concentration on schoolwork (67%) • Student safety (62%) • Assaults in grades K-8 have decreased by 85 percent. Rebuttal • Have no effect on safety or violence without other discipline policies • Assaults in grades K-8 have decreased by 85 percent in one school in Long Beach, California. • Have no direct bearing on students' academic achievement • Increases school attendance. - People won’t be embarrassed by the way that they look, and this will encourage them to go to school. • teach an undesirable lesson about individuality and making choices based on internal values • may mask risky behaviors (e.g., gang participation) • violate students' rights to free expression • The point of school is to learn, not to express yourself. • Classroom discipline (79%) • Peer pressure (76%) • School spirit (72%) • Concentration on schoolwork (67%) • Student safety (62%)
   forget that stupid school uniforms

its your right to dress the way you want. to be forced to wear something along wioth everybody else is not part of your freedom of speech. people should be allowed to espress themselves through the way that they dress.
