Network shared folders, SharePoint, Laserfiche

I'm working for an organization who's currently using shared folders on a network and Laserfiche to scan & store documents in a database repository. We plan to also create a SharePoint portal for cross-team collaboration (documents, ideas...). I'd like to weigh pros & cons of each, and then come up with a usage policy for each.
