PROs
CONs
   Expenses are covered

Your flights to and from country, your living expenses (modest), all your health care needs, will fly you back to the states for a family or medical emergency, and a modest readjustment allowance for your entry back in to the states.
   Peace Corps code of conduct

It's reasonable, and in your, your community's, and Peace Corps best interest, but some people feel constrained by it.

   Best-recognized name in international programs

Good for your resume and a "wow" factor when you meet people! No one needs to explain to a potential employer what the Peace Corps does. It is shorthand for being a world-travelling, compassionate, adventurous, and cool person!
   Sickness

One of the certainties as a Peace Corps volunteer (especially during the first year) is that you will get sick. So be prepared for tolerating a sickness in the midst of the challenge and adversity that comes wiht Peace Corps life.

   Unpredictable living conditions

Peace Corps management will be sure to provide you with your basic needs at your site, but those may be very basic. If not having indoor plumbing or hour-long hot showers severely worries you, then you will be taking a big chance with the Peace Corps! That said, the Peace Corps experience is not about how much hardship one can stand, so managers are usually pretty willing to make changes if your living conditions just aren't right.
